Award-winning oral communication
At the last congress of the Catalan Society of Pediatrics, held in Tortosa on 6 and 7 May 2016, an oral communication of which I am the author (along with my former colleagues), won an award for best presentation related to chickenpox.
This oral paper is entitled "Assessment of the association between the incidence of chickenpox and the recommendations and restrictions of vaccination from 2007 to 2015". In this work we related the dismunition in the diagnoses of chickenpox from the year 2007 in which the Spanish Association of Pediatrics began to recommend its use. And this was the case until 2013, when the Ministry of Health restricted the vaccine for hospital use only, and chickenpox diagnoses increased to quadruple in 2015 compared to 2012.
Luckily, this year, the Ministry corrected this anomaly and the vaccine was again over-the-counter. In addition, it is likely that in a few weeks it will be a vaccine funded by the public health system.
